2026 Cupra Raval
'It would be nice to have a little more performance". Is this just youthful arrogance, or a gentle but justified complaint? VW brought this on itself by using a single engine for all models, ranging from 85 kW (115
hp) to 166 kW (226 hp).
The criticism seems to have started with the ID.Polo GTI, and now it’s spreading like wildfire to its sister model, which goes by the much more innocuous name of 'Cupra Raval VZ'. Even the sound effect, which
is based on the formula E and can be turned off-doesn't help.
It looks like another engine from the group will be coming soon, but the GTI's reputation has been tarnished. By the way, this Raval VZ is technically an exact copy of the GTI; it even has that new,
phenomenal limited-slip differential.
Otherwise, everything else is MEB+ as well, just like in the Skoda Epiq, which is slightly longer than its platform counterparts. Since the VZ is included in the Raval's configuration, it is striking that the
power output ultimately increases by only 11 kW (15 hp).
So, just a clumsy tactic with a car that is quite a successful alternative to the ID. Polo. It's unbelievable what kind of assistance you can buy in addition. The lane-keeping and lane-changing features are quite
remarkable for a vehicle class like this.
However, the base models of the Raval and Epiq are about 1,000 euros more expensive. However, they revenge for it with the fact that, for example, the Epiq as Essence with the large battery starts at just
€32,100, and the Raval as Endurance starts at as low as €31,790.
And then there's the sportier version, which—with a bit more performance, can easily push the price up to the 40,000 euros range. The new, stunning matte paint finishes alone (see video below) will cost
€1,800. So be careful at the dealership counter.
According to ChatGPT, the name of the new Cupra is a reference to a well-known neighborhood in Barcelona and symbolizes urbanity, culture, nightlife, and creativity. The exterior design and the
distinctive features of the interior strongly reinforce this.
