Parking Brake 2

So much the rear disc brake has also helped to reduce the braking distance, there are still small cars, which are equipped with a rear drum brake for cost reasons. But because such cars are mainly prefered by novice drivers, the advantage of hill-driving assistance (pictured above) would be very welcome here.

There's plenty of space on the back of the brake backplate, here the two electric actuators are mounted. They have an effect on the two brake shoes, but do not disrupt the work of the hydraulics. Also for vans with duo-servo rear brake there is a corresponding solution. The hand brake lever will thus slowly be superfluous.

There are two groups to distinguish for the maintenance, the disc brake without and with cable pull. The latter and the Electronic Parking Brake combined with drum brakes are not critical in the maintenance, if the electrical actuation is disconnected. Be sure to ensure the full functioning of the hydraulic part, before installing the electrical part again.

More critical is the disc brake version with direct electrical drive. The spindle drive of the electrical system must be reduced widely next to the piston of the hydraulic system. This can best be done with a tool that you can see in the video below. 03/16
