Confusing numbers and letters at Volvo, whose primary meaning, e.g. V for estate car, not always is maintained. No matter how the numbers are, under the bodywork the C 30 is largely identical with the S 40 and V 50. The body remembers after a long interval at the P 1800 ES better known as 'Snow Witch coffin'. The name is based on a classical coupe form of the P1800, which in the course of the model development has been transformed into an estate car coupe.
So also the C 30 has a backward elongated roof. However, it inclines up to the end and results in a vertical and a much smaller glass hatchback compared with the original. Also the rear side windows are shorter and ends with a very low height by the wedge shape of the sheet metal parts and the sloping roof. The coupe-styled model remains. At the roof edge a spoiler is added.
Since even the 2.5-liter five-cylinder fits as top engine, the develops despite the relatively light charging with 0.55 bar a due temperament. Back there are accordingly only two seats, in front up to including dashboard are barely visible differences to the S 40/V 50. Of course this includes also the Volvo-specific storage place front of the center console. 04/12
