2026 VW ID.Tiguan

Things don't seem to be going quite as they usually do at VW, as is typical for automakers. Generations alternate, with at least one facelift and a few years in between. That's not the case with the VW ID.4 or ID.Tiguan.

A facelifted version of the ID.4 will hit the market in the spring of 2026, in order to be replaced by the new ID.Tiguan in the fall. It's enough to make you look surprised and ask what on earth this is all about. However, that's a question the VW executives will have to answer for themselves.

We're now trying to turn this into an advantage for consumers, and that is the price. The base model of the new ID. Tiguan costs €42,695, while the ID.4 Pro currently (October 2026) costs €42,915 even with a 77 kWh battery, which drops to €38,915 with the manufacturer's bonus.

Back to the ID. Tiguan. So it will be available starting early next year, even as a base model, which is actually unusual for VW. Sure, at this price it comes with steel rims, and we'll see just how much it hurts to miss a desired extra.

And the ID.Tiguan has plenty of these features, just think of the glass roof, the front-passenger display, and, above all, the significantly faster charging speed thanks to the larger battery. You could probably do without the illuminated logo with the clip.

The new, sturdy handles on the doors are nice.

That's actually a pretty good price for such a spacious sedan, it's a bestseller for good reason, even in its gasoline-powered version, which offers even more cargo space despite being 8 centimeters shorter. In that case, even the hint of a Frunk in the ID. Tiguan won't help.

The little extras are nice, such as the more button-based controls and even the switch to classic displays, this time from the Golf 4. Of course, the one from the Golf 1, for example, in the ID.Polo, would be more to our liking but the younger clientele is probably more important to VW.

What’s particularly interesting about the new ID. Tiguan is that VW has lowered the cW value from 0.27, as seen on the predecessor ID.4, to 0.26 for the R model, while also returning to classic door handles. And, just here, the air curtains are closed.
