 2023 Smart #2
Where does the '2' actually come from? Will there perhaps be an even smaller Smart model in the future? No, because the Smart #1 is already available, as are the #3 and #5. It can't be any smaller than that; after all, it
needs to have enough battery capacity and also be crash-resistant.
After all, the previous model was also called Fortwo, though, of course, that referred to the number of passengers it could carry. Incidentally, the comparison comes out very favorably for the new model. At just under 5
cm longer, it offers significantly more.
As a result, the battery capacity has doubled, and the range has increased even more than that. Technically speaking, only the power output of the rear electric motor has remained the same. The only real downside of the
new model: You can no longer fold the passenger seat forward.
The motor can now reach speeds of up to 140 km/h, and considering the fast-charging capability, which is unusual for a compact car, it’s even suitable for longer trips. Just imagine, the trunk has a capacity of over 300
liters.
No, at home, at least the particularly affordable Pure version, it's not a charging beast, because there's simply no 22 kW AC charging available there. That's why the charging capacity here drops to 3.6 kWh, but it's still fully
charged after 10 hours. With the Pure+, an additional €1,000 yields a respectable 11 kWh.
Otherwise, the standard features of the Pure are incredible:

The Premium version of the Smart #2 costs €3,500 more than the Pure+. In return, it comes with a glass roof with a sliding interior cover, heated seats for the front passenger as well, and a Sennheiser sound system with
seven speakers.
| There might be a convertible version again soon. |
For an everyday car, the wheels are a bit unusual: the rear wheels are two sizes wider than the front ones, but they have the same rolling circumference thanks to different cross-sections, 15 inches in diameter for the
Pure versions, and 16 inches for the Premium and Couture/Edition versions.
