Škoda Fabia

Not much has happened with the engines. The last two four-cylinder petrol engine have been eliminated and were replaced by three-cylinders with smaller displacement, the stronger of the two even with significantly more torque and both, of course, with slightly less CO2. On the occasion of the new tests, the diesel engines are having a hard time with up to 25 percent more CO2 emissions. Although the petrol engines suffer from the same phenomenon, but not so strong. The weakest diesel was canceled.

Nothing has changed in the transmissions. The surcharge for Double-Clutch-Transmission is still 1,400 euros. Compared to this the extra price for the Combi with 600 euros is directly moderate. The Fabia basic model has become more expensive compared to 2014 by 440 euros, the cheapest diesel model the same, but the most expensive, however, is now 560 euros cheaper.

The VW Polo is 20 cm shorter. Because of the same technology and absolutely comparable height and minimum/maximum loading capacity, one may expect the Fabia to have significantly more foot space in front of the rear seats. The wheelbase is about 10 cm longer. The price difference starts at about 750 euros and is growing rapidly, the more expensive the model. Even DCT is 100 euros more expensive. The more reasonable car here is clearly the Fabia . . .

However, this is really just a facelift. Lights and front bumper are newly designed. The assignment of the headlights to the radiator grille and their internal technique have changed a bit, so now the cornering light is installed there. Below left and right, the Fabia now has fog lights. For an extra charge, there is LED light available. At the rear, only the taillights have changed towards LED light. Inside they look a bit more three- dimensional. At the bottom left and right, the Fabia now has reflectors.

Inside, the infotainment system has 6.5 inches and a slightly modified dashboard. Behind the steering wheel it remains with the clear conventional round instruments and display in between. Difficult to estimate the possible surcharge to a digital display, but actually is against this solution in a reasonable car but nothing wrong, right? 07/18
