2018 Porsche Cayman/Boxster T

The 982 series is in existence since 2016 and we want to compare it with the 981c series since 2013. It has been modified several times to date. Originally it had six cylinders, now even such an engine is available again. The smaller of the two engines had 2.7 litres at the time, but less power than the four cylinders of today. This is due to the turbocharging, which also results in a higher torque and a three points lower compression.

Although it lost two cylinders and 10 litres in the tank, it still gained a lot of weight. The standard rims are two inches bigger in diameter, the tires smaller in cross-section. For the price of the T today, the S-model could be purchased in 2013. And then there are extras possible worth at least 17,000 euros.

It is just a Porsche with the typical characteristics of a powerful engine and perhaps even more powerful suspension. The 'T' stands for 'Touring' and once marked an entry-level 911 from 1967 that was supposed to replace the 912, a Porsche also with only four cylinders. At that time, a Porsche six-cylinder still had the same displacement as the Cayman T today.

The difference to the approximately 9,000 euro cheaper 718 is made up by the larger tyres, the active chassis management, the stability management, the chrono package and torque vectoring with mechanical limited slip differential. In addition, there are drive management and aerodynamic modifications. Care must be taken when lowering the whole car by 20 mm. 07/19
