So that's it, the attempt to squeeze as much as possible out of the 914's chassis. The one above is the first with an eight-cylinder engine from the 908, for Ferdinand Piëch, then head of development. It's said to have been
throttled back for road use by the standard exhaust. With flame tubes, it should even reach 257 kW (350 hp) at 8500 rpm.
