2017 Porsche 911 RSR

Porsche Carrera RS + Racing version

RSR, this combination of letters is presented already 1973 and wins the 24 hours of Daytona in one of the first assignments. See below in the video the assembly of an air-cooled RSR version.

The technique of the latest is far away from this. There is also no more manifold injection. And now they have also interchanged the engine and and the gearbox. Some say that only, so that the huge diffuser has enough space. So actually this RSR would now be a 'Boxster' or better a 'Cayman RSR'.

But it also has to offer conventional technique, too. So its valve train is rigid and it is one of the last free-sucking, different from the competitors Ford and Ferrari. At least 375 kW (510 hp) have now been achieved at well over 8000 rpm. However, rules for the torque are a kind of weapon equilibrium between suction and turbo versions.

The body made of carbon fiber is also changed, can now be dismantled in parts very quickly. The lamps emit yellow light to differ it from the faster prototypes. It also has a radar, which better shows them on the display in the steering wheel.

The driver's seat is anchored in the middle for greater safety during side impact, the pedals can be changed. Such racing cars are apparently completing lots of kilometers. 35,000 were it already while being tested and 140 hours in 19 races, it will still be, first again in Daytona, hopefully similarly successful as in 1973. 11/16
