1968 Porsche 911 Coupe

The Porsche 911 was completely new as compared with its predecessor, the 356. The body was larger and smoother, also drive and chassis were thoroughly reworked. The engine from now on always featured (except for the 912) 6 cylinders and one overhead camshaft each. It was almost completely manufactured from aluminum, also, e.g., the outer side of the cylinders. The extension potential of this engine was unbelievable. At the end, the engine power had more than trebled in series production.

Even more importantly was the replacement of the old pendulum axis. The modern semi-trailing construction delivered almost negative camber, also while dissettling the springs, and the front axle created in spite of clear improvements in terms of handling, more boot space.
