This is how Porsche started. The very first vehicles, manufactured in Gmünd (Austria), were made individually on order and had an aluminumbodywork. There were first racing successes, but still the vehicles shared a lot of common parts with the VW Beetle of that time. Only the interior with the tachometer, the steering wheel and the seats differed clearly. Among the shared parts was also theunreliable tank control, where the 356 did not even have the reserve cock of the beetle.
