Peugeot 308 SW

It orients itself allegedly at the VW Golf Variant and can thus probably be selling well. It has 11 centimetres more wheelbase than the saloon and hits about the same amount of centimetres also the Golf, but the still comes to about the same length. Also in the luggage compartment, both are not very different.

The most powerful diesel engines are good to compare. The supplies Peugeot also as four-valve engine, while the smaller diesel has only two valves per cylinder unlike VW. Peugeot has with the same performance with 370 Nm significantly more torque, whereat at VW however, the 320 Nm extend over a wider rpm range.

The two-litres car is to buy at Peugeot from a 1200 Euro lower price. In addition, it is combined at Peugeot with the best equipment, at VW with the second best only. The best would be once more 1,700 euros more expensive. On the other hand, both begin with an almost to the euro matching entry-level price.

However, at VW the possibilities of the equipment are unbeatable. There is available the natural gas version, the all-wheel drive and the dual-clutch gearbox with seven speeds, while Peugeot offers from all this only a converter automatic transmission with six gears exclusively with the most expensive engine.

The Peugeot has won in terms of appearance. In the side view, one can be divided which of the two is the more successful. It is good that Peugeot do not overdo it with the chrome frames at the 308 SW as with other models. And the gag with the small steering wheel seems to be really successful despite gripes about against each other working pointers. 05/14
