2025 Lexus ES 350e

Previously, we were accustomed to a rather restrained design from Toyota, while Lexus became increasingly devilish (Diabolo). Fortunately, only trace elements of this are found in this eighth generation of ES.

The eighth overall, but only the second ES in Europe. It will replace the LS.

The trend in design has reversed somewhat because, at the same time, the class below has become more rebellious. The ES is sure to impress with its new length. There is more room for discussion at the rear, where they still want to maintain the continuous connection between the lights in 2026.

They are even exaggerating once again by having to put the company name on it as well. One could take an even more critical view of this forcibly detached small tailgate, which means that a rather generous luggage compartment offers less usable space in practice.

However, it could also be noted that this means passengers in the back seat are never directly exposed to air drafts. The rest of the technology is rather average, presumably because this vehicle is also available as a full hybrid.

Once again, it is worth taking a closer look at this term, because it highlights something that is actually a disadvantage, namely that this version cannot be reloaded. A peculiar platform that, with 75 kWh in the all-wheel drive version, has even less than the already modest battery capacity.

The platform also includes a center tunnel. This is probably due to the all-wheel-drive hybrid version. It comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 148 kW (201 hp) and is named 300h. The all-electric, all- wheel-drive 500e, on the other hand, has 252 kW (353 hp).

Otherwise, the interior design leaves nothing to be desired. From the well-designed steering wheel to the 12.3-inch display behind it, including head-up display and 14-inch screen in the center, a partially moving multi-purpose center console, and the coverable glass sunroof above it.

The familiar high-quality Lexus seats made from special permeable synthetic leather, with fold-out leg rests in the rear, a fold-forward passenger seat backrest, and bamboo inlays illuminated from behind on the sides. You really feel like you're in very good hands.

And then there is even the question of what price Lexus will actually charge, given that its predecessor, albeit without the more expensive electrical/electronic components and 165 mm shorter, cost “only” from €50,000. This could lead to exciting competition in the upper class.
