The designers have learned a lot, perhaps as a result of customer protests. This mat red is gorgeous, even though the car has once again become larger, 6 cm or 3.3 cm wider than the coupe or the old M2.


Compared to this one, it has also increased in length, exactly 11.3 cm. The wheelbase is 5.4 cm longer now, but the height has been reduced slightly.

Well, the front looks beefy in the lower area due to the large rectangular air intakes, but the BMW kidneys have 'calmed down' significantly, which is nice on this model even without a chrome frame. In this ensemble, the new headlight appearance is still the most pleasing.


Unfortunately, the sills between the front and rear, which are wide because the wheels are on display, look a bit chavvy. One just wanted to keep the doors of the coupe. However, M4 axles now fit, raising the chassis to a new level. You can also be seen by the increased tire dimensions, with even more diameter at the rear than at the front.

The description of the chassis speaks of an adaptive M chassis and even distinguishes between kinematics and elastokinematics. Large M brakes, not with ceramics, six-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear. The differential should even be 'active', ASC and the M dynamic mode can be switched off.


The rear has its own special features, skilfully picking up the rectangles of the front without clumsily imitating them. Interesting is the surface of the tailgate, which does not know exactly whether it is supposed to form a rear spoiler or not.


Except for the special, optionally available seats with the air intakes from the rear, the interior is actually familiar. Side by side, 12.3 and 14.9 inch screens easily line up around the driver's position. Infotainment is taking up more and more space, e.g. through a kind of recording of one's own driving style, e.g. on the racetrack.
