2022 BAIC Senova D20

Senova is the new name of the Saab company acquired by BAIC in 2009. However, the vehicles under this label have nothing to do with the old Saab technology, especially not the D20, which was presented as the first model in 2012.

It doesn't seem entirely clear at the moment whether the Senova name will be continued at all or dropped entirely. However, given the size of companies such as BAIC, China's fifth-largest automobile manufacturer, sub- names are common for certain sectors.

BAIC has long been associated with Mercedes through a minority stake and there is a suspicion that the D20 is based on the technology of the Smart Forfour. This is supported by the two engines with 1.3 and 1.5 liters.

The wheelbase is also identical, even the tires.

But only the former is available in Germany. However, it has the same cubic capacity until three digits behind the decimal point. Perhaps the long construction period and the valid origin would actually be more of an advantage for German buyers.

The towing capacity is greater than that of most electric cars.

Because there are now far too few cars for people who either don't want to or can't spend a lot of money or are looking for a second car. The low purchase price of the car is remarkable, after all, an air conditioning is included.

The car has the same base price as the Forfour from 2004.

But one must dutifully point out the disadvantages also. The missing ESP could perhaps get over, not the non-existent side airbags. The companies BAIC and Senovia are still in vain on the NCAP list.

The takeover series goes even further, because the Forfour from 2004 is based to 40 percent on the Mitsubishi Colt.
