2020 Audi Q5
The people at Audi can tell us what they want, but the fact that they have changed the operation of the centre screen is something that some Audi customers will not accept so quickly. You can talk about 'standard' as much
as you like. If you ask me, this is not least a cost saving.
One introduces otherwise elaborate personalized light signatures, with which the great possibilities of OLED technology are only marginally used, and then something like that. If the touch screen is to remain, then its
position and proximity to the driver is fixed for all future. On the Q5, it is even higher than the display behind the steering wheel.
And this freestanding tablet is not very nice either. After all, there are still a few buttons left, such as the volume control. If one would orientate oneself at just appeared trucks from the same company, a better center display
integrated into the dashboard would be much more traffic-safe only for looking at, perhaps also here with the possibility to transfer certain information between speedometer and rev counter.
At the presentation it is said that the car has become only a few hundred euros more expensive. But if you take 2017 as a basis, it has increased by 2,300 euros, if you assume the same value added tax. The currently only
possible model with a Diesel engine has been taken over technically up to 10 kW more and unchanged. May be more costs because of the power output and the on twindosing based convertion of the exhaust system.
The basic version is almost even better than the chrome-plated advanced and S line versions. Of course edition one, from which all the pictures and videos here come, is by far the most beautiful of all. At last an Audi
design that emphasises its own qualities. Are the customers of such cars really so eager to be able to reflect themselves in their cars?
Anyone interested in the car should definitely try to see and touch exactly the model that corresponds to their order before signing the purchase contract. Because the range of variations are getting bigger. So the headlights
without matrix light look completely different from those shown here, which also applies to the rear lights. The two interior packages not only differ in the seats, but also in the also in the steering wheel and gear knob. In
addition there are all the inserts from wood to carbon and piano lacquer. Oh yes, and the rims are now available up to 21 inch.
In 2008 the Q5 saw the light of day and although it wasn't exactly a mini at that time, at 4.66 m, it has sold 1.8 million times. Initially it was built in Germany, since 2016 in Mexico. Obviously, even in view of the high level of
automation, you can probably achieve the same quality all over the world. It could probably never be called a compact SUV, especially since it has now become 19 mm longer.
We can expect three more Diesel engines, one with 3 litres and 210 kW and two with 2 litres and 100 and 120 kW respectively. The latter ones will have 'only' front wheel drive. 12V-hybrids are reserved for four-cylinders,
those with 48V for six-cylinders. The petrol engines are initially available with 4 cylinders, 2 litres and 195 kW and even later one with 150 kW and an S-model with 251 kW. Soon two plug-ins with slightly different electric
power and a good 50 km range will be added.
Four-cylinder quattro | Front and rear disengageable all-wheel drive |
