Brake dust Filter
Yes, even an electric car could get tangled up purely theoretically in the catches of future fine dust regulations. Although being operated by only one pedal for acceleration and braking, a step on the brake pedal is
sometimes necessary, depending on the traffic situation. And by this brake dust is emitted even by cars with combustion engine more than their exhaust gases.
'Brake dust particulate filter', with this word monster Mann + Hummel designates an installation in so far free areas of the disk brake. A robust housing encloses not only the brake caliper, but also a quarter of the
brake disc in the direction of rotation.
| Also planned for trucks and rail vehicles. |
Care has been taken to design the filter according to the different particle sizes and to the possible temperatures. The procedure is already patented. As a small side effect, the light alloy wheels remain clean. Similar
to the brake calipers, this particle filter will probably somehow also appear colored in the surcharge lists.
How good that our rims have grown so much in diameter. This creates space for this new construction. The manufacturer is still silent about the maintenance intervals, hopefully matching the necessary replacement
of the brake pads. And if the filters and the housing are also characterized by low weight, the whole can only be described as a very good idea.09/17
