Sliding-gear starter(truck)

Solution

This is a starter-motor with the same working principle in different construction forms for larger diesel engines right to up to locomotives and ships diesels. It can still be found however, in many truck engines.

In the raised section on the top right, only one reinforced power relay is accommodated. It can also be accommodated elsewhere, which is why this starter is also available in completely concentric form. The draw- and hold coiling works below on the right, directly on an axial slidable bar in the armature spindle. This pushes the front pinion in the direction of the flywheel gear rim. Here, beside both known situations of the alignment meshing, directly and after twisting, there is due to the reinforced cogs also the blind circuit. In this case, tooth knocks against tooth, and the starting process must be repeated. Apart from general strengthening, only the multi-disc freewheel is worth mentioning which replaces the roller freewheel and is also laid out for higher torques. 07/08
