Euro Trailer

In the shadow of the discussion about the long-truck it has given a field test with 300 Kögel Euro trailers 'Big Maxx' with an extension of 1.3 m. On the basis of this, now, after 10 years, permission was given to remain in German road traffic.

It is 14.9 m long 7.45 m shorter than the hotly debated long-truck and even less than a meter shorter than an ordinary articulated train. In contrast to the long-truck, it is allowed to travel unrestrictedly in eight federal states and in another five only where the long-truck is allowed to drive.

Thus, Northrhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt are completely taboo for the long-truck, while the extended trailer is allowed to drive here. Since the loading industry requires frequent loading volumes more than loading weight, the 10 m³ and up to four pallets could significantly save truck transportation rides.

In the picture above, however, the extension of the superstructure is still a bit strange. In the new mini-boom, now to expect, a certain rear offset of the rear axles may be wanted. But the shunting professionals will probably have already plans for this. 01/17
