Who thinks that all Volvos depended on each other, who is only partially right. After all, this smaller SUV is 26 cm shorter and at the same height 9 cm narrower. The most important measure is the wheelbase, which is about 15 cm shorter. The c_W value is significantly worse, the unladen weight with approximately 250 - 450 kg (factory data) incredibly much better.

The dependency relates to the price, which is hardly different from that of the XC 60. However, the XC 40 will appear first with its most powerful engines, which are also available in the XC 60. At the beginning of next year, there will also be a smaller three-cylinder (look at concept 40.1) with front-wheel drive and manual transmission for a little more than 30,000 euros.

Similar to VW, the new Volvo platform (Compact Modular Architecture) is flexible up to the distance between the pedals and the front axle. In the concept of 2016, the hybrid version has already been designed, here with three-cylinder and seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Also the pure electric drive is here already planed.

Volvo remains true to itself. Except for 45/560 liters less luggage volume, you will hardly miss the XC 60 in the interior. It is even more colorful (picture 2 above), but that is quite good looking and selectable.10/17
