2016 VW e-Crafter
Two little disappointments, the new e-Crafter has prepared for us: It is with 4.25 t gross vehicle weight only drivable with truck license and its
first delivery will be at the end of 2017. Until then, the batteries have perhaps developed so far that the targeted range of 200 km be achieved
in practice. The space for batteries is well expandable.
After all, a loading volume of 11.3 m³ remains, an internal height of about 2 m and a payload up to 1.7 t. Probably still a long time will stay no
chance of long-distance transport with an electric drive. In the sector of distribution in the urban area the situation looks different. VW expects to attain ranges of up to 400 km in a not so far future.
Interesting also to experience the new Crafter at IAA Commercial Vehicles. In addition to the clearly improved design especially the interior
makes a positive impression. The answer of Mercedes with the new Sprinter will be interesting. The Mercedes-people claim, incidentally, VW
has left the joint production.

Technically remains of this cooperation with Mercedes only the rear-wheel drive, of course, again with a longitudinal engine. The all-wheel
drive, unlike earlier Oberaigner solutions, will be more VW-typical based on the transverse engine. The loading space is precious for a
delivery van. VW will offer additional solutions for many customer requests in order to avoid damaging the interior by do-it-yourself solutions.
