 2018 Suzuki Jimny
A friendly guy, welcomes you as a reliable size at almost every exhibition at the Suzuki stand. Finally, one begrudge it the new face design. The characteristic 5 openings as opposed to seven in the Jeep have remained,
only that they are now embedded in black plastic.
It even seems to have become even more compact with a length of 5 cm less. It is one of the last remaining, genuine off-road vehicles, consequent with ladder frame and front/rear rigid axles. The only concession to
modernity are the Panhard rods and the coil springs making trailing arms necessary. In the picture below you can see how much the front and rear axle are similar. However, one looks for mechanical locks in vain.
Of course, in such a classic, albeit the smallest of its kind, in addition to the switchable four-wheel drive, the gear reduction may not be missing. For the terrain, the body with its angular design is much better suited than
for the highway. A lot of black plastic also on the sides completes the practical relevance.
At the rear door one sees that the car was originally designed for a country with left-hand traffic. However, a tailgate would be difficult, because the Jimny in the age of emergency kits and emergency wheels his spare
wheel proudly pointing backwards. The 50:50 pitch for the rear seat is quite enough. The load volume has even increased by 50 liters.
The engine has remained as a pure naturally aspirated, as it was only 200 cm3 has gained, beneficial for torque and power. Of course that is not the effectiveness of today, which drives the CO3
emissions also because of the off-road design and technology.
One emphasizes the uncompromising interpretation on use as a pure vehicle and deviates nevertheless with some asseccoires. These include buttons on the steering wheel and, though consistently black, a rather
pretty dashboard. The Jimny is, in addition to the above features, an off-road vehicle with lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and fatigue detection.
The basic equipment including air conditioning is so complete that the higher equipment is worthwhile only because of the LED headlights and possibly the smartphone connection and navigation. This should make
the new a little bit more expensive than the old one. 09/18
