The sunbeams with the crown over it should be a symbol of success, but the one shown here had none. Experts consider it a
successful car but suspect that it came too early for the British and especially American group of potential buyers.
Life also punishes those who come too early.
Pleasant and spacious body, self supporting, crank operated windows, all accessories of a
new convertible period, enthusiastically rejected by enthusiasts of British sports cars. Maybe, even the engine was still too quiet. And then only the rear rigid axle is a link to hard, narrow samples of English car
architecture.
Actually, however, we want to tell the story of the Tiger picture at the top and below. This is the attempt to sell with help of a V8 from Ford. The manufacturer had taken the AC Cobra as an example.
Unfortunately, not with a huge success, because of the Ford Mustang (picture), similar from the engine but not of price and presence.
And although Shelby American changed not only the engine, moved it to the rear and adapted the car to the higher performance, it could not convince so completely.
The Tiger at least required some courage to go high speed, maybe much more than the Mustang. 11/16
