 2018 Peugeot 508
The D segment has stabilized somewhat in recent years after major losses. The 2014 facelift of the 508 has helped, but even that did not work in the last year. The manufacturer has therefore decided to take more
fundamental steps.
The outer silhouette of the large tailgate for the 475-liter luggage compartment is hidden skillfully. Thus, a five-door notchback saloon emerged from a four-door sedan. In parallel, the design has increased in
sharpness. To emphasize the character of a coupé, i.a. 6 cm lower height and also 8 cm shorter.
The windows in the doors have no frames. Full-LED is now situated in a completely different-looking front. Particularly striking the obliquely-edgewise arranged LED array as daytime running lights. Although the
Peugeot lion
had already moved off the hood into the radiator grille, it now finds itself in a more chic checkerboard pattern environment.
The bonnet has the recently observed more exactly fit into the front, so it is surrounded by matching sheets, as a result also a little smaller. Of course, this signals progress in sheet metal processing, e.g. smaller
gaps.
Up to 70 kg, the new is told to be lighter. The wheels seem bigger in their wheel arches. The rear of the car is designed narrower than the front. A chrome frame covers the side window front. The tail has also become
much more dynamic. The new tail lights widen it visually. Interesting the diffuser with the panels as dummies for exhaust pipes.
Inside, the Peugeot typical dashboard has now arrived even the 508. Very noble now the above slightly flattened steering wheel, the 12.3-inch display behind it, the center console with the strange control lever for
the eight-speed automatic, the eye-catching control buttons (?) of the center display and the coatings of oak veneer or carbon look.
