1987 Peugeot 405

If you were ever interested in rallye sports, or have just admired the skills of the pilots, then you should look at the first, multi-award winning movie as long as it is still available. It shows how Ari Vatanen balances a 405 T16 up the Pikes Peak on the edge of death.

The Peugeot 405 comes on the market in 1987 and takes over the front drive known from 205 and 305 into the upper middle class. Previously, the company had been there an iron supporter of the standard drive. The car is so good that it is said other manufacturers have envied the company around this car. It promptly becomes car of the year 1988.

Of course, the company remains conservative in the limousine form, but also offers a break (station wagon). The limousine also lacks the folding rear seat backrest. After all, it offers a large luggage compartment and an opening for skis. This Peugeot, as its predecessors, is considered to be comfortable, reliable and with both engines for its time quite economical.

The rear axle now freed from the drive seduces to many experiments. In addition to the 1992 Sport version and the e.g. even at the Dakar Rallye quite successful T16, there is an electric drive, the first diesel hybrid of the company. 1993 follows a facelift. 03/17
