2017 Opel Crossland X
Opel is planning to introduce seven new vehicles this year, three of which will be a little like SUVs. We already know the names of two of them, Crossland and Grandland X. Both are based on the platform of the
PSA group, the former on the 2008, the latter on the 3008. Peugeot has just facelifted the 2008 and is now no more called 'crossover ', but' SUV '.
It is therefore clear that both don't have all-wheel drive. It is an increase of height, including plastic surround on the wheel cutouts. Therefore also somewhat confusing is the 'X' in the type designation, but it stands
nevertheless at the Mokka models for an additional driven rear axle.
The only advantage is the higher seating position. The market seems to demand such cars, especially with a somewhat martial expression. The aerodynamics are likely to suffer, the safety e.g. with more roll angle,
too. But who not wants to move on sportily benefits from its comfort.
It can be seen in the pictures already, in contrast to Peugeot there is a view to the instruments through the larger steering wheel and not over it. Hopefully the Opel benefits a little from the solid character of the Peugeot
interior. After all, they promised some assistants, the usual connectivity and even Opel OnStar with the concierge service. 02/17
