Nio ET 7

The Nio house in Oslo

What a car in the picture above. We have already presented the prototype from 2017 in the video. What you see here is a pre-production car in relation to Europe. However, the ES 8 should come onto the market in Norway this year or be available, in Germany in 2022, but then the ET 7 shown here.

The interchanging of daytime running lights and main headlights is probably only worth mentioning. But the more than 30 sensors are important, including lidar technology in the center of the front of the roof. The ones from the prototypes are always remembered as clumsy, here executed much more delicately. According to unconfirmed reports, such a sensor can locate light spots the size of a photon at a distance of 400 meters.

Performance f/r 180/300 kW, max. torque 850 Nm.

The superlatives don't stop there with this car, however. No, the 5.2 meter length and 3 meter wheelbase are not meant. Not even that this car should be available with either 70 or 100 kWh. But the battery with 100 kWh should take up the space of the 70 kWh and thus document the progress of battery technology as the significantly older one.

Perhaps the same size is also helpful because the batteries of the Nio can be exchanged in about 5 minutes in special stations, we reported about it. However, they are going one step further by announcing a solid-state battery with 150 kWh for next year in China. If you follow the manufacturer's consumption of approx. 15 kWh per 100 km, this would result in a theoretical range of 1,000 km.

Inside there is little spectacular apart from enough space and good workmanship. Perhaps worth mentioning is the large central touchscreen, which is pleasantly set back for easier operation. Also that finally someone lets end the panorama roof up behind the heads of those sitting in the back. However, a large tailgate is then omitted and the rear seat backrests can only be folded down in one piece, but with a sufficiently large central opening.
