2021 Mercedes eActros



It will be presented as a study already in 2018, and the series production starts now. Daimler states a range of 'up to' 400 km if four battery packs of 105 kWh each are installed. You can also order the eActros with just three packs. In addition to the weight, the reasons for this could also be the high costs of the eActros. According to rumors, the price will almost triple compared to the standard Actros.


The possible sales are more likely to be limited to night deliveries and municipal companies. After all, the not very simple interface to an attachment for the garbage disposal should already be ready. In general, one has maintained as many functions as possible of the Actros with internal combustion engine. Even the front box has the shape of a truck diesel engine.


The two electric motors integrated in the rear axle each deliver 330 kW as continuous power and 400 kW as peak power. Unfortunately we do not find out their torque in order to be able to explain the task of the integrated two- speed transmission. The platform truck chassis will be the same as that of the Actros. However, its payload will be limited by the three ton battery.


That is the reason why we almost only see three-axle vehicles, after all, all of them equipped with an air suspension. Unfortunately, we only learn from them the permissible total weight of up to 27 tons. The wheelbases are 4 to 5.5 m. Supposedly, direct current can be charged with up to 160 kW, but that doesn't quite work with the 60 minutes from 20 to 80 percent mentioned by the manufacturer.
