2025 Mercedes GLB

It is 10 cm longer than its predecessor and has a 6 cm longer wheelbase. This affects the rear seat bench, but also the luggage compartment, which is only slightly smaller than in the GLC. It is available as a five-seater and, for an additional charge, as a seven-seater, always with sliding seats in front.

However, the folding seats in the third row do limit the size of the luggage compartment (see specifications). For the five-seater, the adjustable rear seat bench must be ordered separately. The non-opening panoramic roof is standard. Mercedes highlights the increased headroom.

The GLB also makes generous use of features from the larger models as standard. This includes eight cameras, five radar sensors, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. However, these must be paid for separately under the designation MB.Drive. Some digital extras can also be activated later.

When stating 10 minutes for 260 km, it should be noted that this requires an 800V charging station, of which there are currently very few available. SKY-Control is available as an option for darkening the panoramic roof in segments. Those who save money here may suffer in summer.

The passenger screen is also not necessarily present. Those who do not order it will benefit from a little more distance between the steering wheel (10.25") and the center screen (14"). At least the volume control roll in the steering wheel has been reintroduced. The rest can supposedly be operated intuitively.

Mercedes seems to place particular emphasis on the software. After all, we are already in the fourth generation of MBUX. AI appears very frequently in the press release. You can choose between an assistant from Microsoft or Google. Vehicle software is becoming increasingly similar to smartphone software, making it even easier to use.

Two GLB models with combustion engines have already been announced. One is a hybrid based on 48V technology and an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. You will recognize it by its reopened radiator grille. It will have a battery with a capacity of 1.3 kWh.

A front-mounted 1.5L four-cylinder engine, presumably of Chinese manufacture, is advertised. It is actually quite late to consider the Miller concept, although there are also such engines with compression ratios higher than 12:1.
