2018 Mercedes A-Class Sedan
Interesting is the comparison with the already in China presented sedan. This has six inches more wheelbase and is correspondingly longer. Compared to the previous A-class are in the length 13 cm to be added,
width and height are about the same, of course, then the cross section area, too.
The fact that that longer cars are better running can be seen from the almost sensational reduction of the cW- value by 0.3 compared to the more compact A-Class. Mercedes assures plausibly, so that
this is top of all series models worldwide. However, this value applies only to the ECO model.
The car is initially offered with two engines, in China despite possible power domes on the hood 'only' with gasoline engines of 100 and 120 kW. The sedan in Europe is initially available with the stronger gasoline
engine and the in the A-class only remaining diesel engine, both exclusive with seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The sedan has no folding rear seat backs, but 50 liters more luggage space without folding and for a sedan a particularly wide opening (picture above). The torsion beam axle is reserved for the two now available
models, the more powerful and those with four-wheel drive have multilink. However, this axle is also possible for the smaller models when choosing larger wheels.
Since the five-door A-Class starts at just under € 26,000, one can assume a hopefully modest surcharge for the sedan. The benefit of the sedan is of course purely factual justified only by the slightly better air
resistance. However, one must take into account that a Mercedes, apart from the SUVs, always came rather as a sedan. 07/18
