The introduction of the Kodo design at Mazda is already a little old, time for further development to see here as a vision coupé. The title is as unpretentious as the design itself. Of the five meters in length, more than
half of the bonnet and windshield is lost. And yet you are a long way from copying any current or past designs.
Too frugally the cutouts for lighting units, although the rear lights are concentrating nearly everthing there. This study can generate tension with simple means. The front wheels are partially larger than the bonnet. The
mudguards front are out of sync with those behind. There are also rear doors added, not squeezed, but simply invisible. Greatest possible access to a relatively small glasshouse.
Certainly, the front lights are connected to the grille, but it is not the light itself, but the brilliant shine of its cones. What huge areas without corrugationand with slight curvature they can produce today. Together with the
narrow joints, which
have become almost customary, there are almost uninterrupted reflections of light. Imposing the only remaining beads, which also coincide with the dividing line between hood and fenders.
The interior pushes the simplicity to the extreme. It is certainly not practically, what we see here, but very nice to look at. Actually, yes, three displays with tachometer completely, Better you just concentrate on driving
while driving. And even those who are not enthusiastic about wood inside the vehicle can hardly resist the one chosen here.
This design makes it a bit clear what we could miss in the electric age, because this form can hardly be imagined as an e-car. And if the team has really worked on this prototype for three years, it only shows that
many
a successful time is needed even in the digital world. 12/17
