2005 MAN TGM
We are presenting another member of the Trucknowlogy Generation introduced from 2000 with the TGA. The TGM appeared in 2005 as a link between the lighter and more payload optimized
TGL and the heavy TGS and TGX. Despite a significantly smaller engine, it reaches far into their domain with up to 26 tonnes of permissible total weight. The TGL only reaches a maximum of 18 tonnes.
Amazingly also its variability with 4 different driver's cabins from 1,620 mm to 2,785 mm length. It is available as two-axle and three-axle with optional 4-wheel drive (picture above), as well as with steered trailing axle.
Besides leaf
springs also air suspension either only at the rear or also at the front is possible. Particularly impressive are the up to six wheelbases from 3,875 mm to 5,775 mm, combined with axle overhangs at the rear of
1,925 mm up to 2,675 mm.
Important to note, that not all combinations are possible. Since the TGM only appears 5 years after the introduction of the series, it receives all innovations introduced up to then. This includes
e.g. the ESP introduced in 2002, the trace control and, later, the distance combined with speed control. Perhaps even more important was the introduction of Common Rail for the diesel engines, directly combined
with a new one engine brake (see video below).
This was followed by innovations after the TGM appeared. Although it is used in the long-distance and distribution sectors and as a construction site vehicle, the additional installation of a hydraulic system is
expected front-wheel drive has probably been less important here. However, the individual tightenings of the exhaust gas regulations, which required the introduction of Euro 6, gave AdBlue at the latest a major
factor. 12/16
