Based on 26 years, as long Lexus already exists, the RX series, now in its fourth generation, accounts for a third of all sales according to Toyota. The look was sharpened with probably soon two possible versions of the so-called 'Diabolo' radiator grille, metallic meshes or horizontal, let's hope so, closable slats case of the hybrid version, framed by a downwards becoming broader chrome strip.
Let's hope that the jagged front is not more dangerous for pedestrians, because the actually should be even better protected meanwhile. One really needs no more to mention new headlights with LED light technology, not only for the daytime running lights and appropriate technology also for the tail light. However, one let extend them rear around the corners to the not quite straight side surfaces.
The wheelbase has grown significantly less with 5 centimetres than the length with 12 centimetres. According to the mathematics, the luggage compartment would have grown therefore more than the interior on the rear seat bench. Upward it is pretty airily with a partially to open panoramic roof. Front, the materials are refined again. The 12.3 inches display attracts attention, interestingly manoeuvrable with a kind of joystick.
Almost everything is electrically: the roof, the tailgate, and even the rear seat backs. There is talk of a 3.5 litres V6 with 221 kW (300 HP) by direct injection. The hybrid model will have the same engine probably again with slightly less power due to Atkinson and the additional electric drive on the rear axle.
The rims have become larger again, now measure 20 inches. One takes into account the growing interest in coloured insets. Case of the new you may even choose. Incidentally, the 'L' no longer appears only at the main headlamps, but also at the fog lamps.
The styling seems to be surprisingly important for an SUV. Apart from the radiator grill, the 'glasshouse' seems laterally to go to the very rear. It even cuts through (of course only visually) the C-pillar. Toyota speaks of the 'self-supporting roof'. Already Honda invented the circumferentially tail light on the tailgate. However, it is very narrow here and one has thankfully decided not to make it to a spoiler. 04/15
