2022 Range Rover

€121,000 as base price. Even a Porsche 911 is €10,000 cheaper, but the same price with all-wheel drive. Of course it would be nice to have both, two persons in the Porsche to the opera, four in the Range Rover. All unthinkable scenarios for ordinary contemporaries, except for the opera, of course.

But the image of the gas guzzler hits rich people too. You won't believe it, the three diesel engines in the Range Rover clearly beat the 911 in terms of CO2 emissions. Ironically, the 3 liter petrol engine as a mild hybrid has the same value and the V8 twin much less.

It can be assumed that the two vehicles don't even differ that much in terms of the cW value. The fifth generation has succeeded in smoothing out the bodywork, whether we like it or not. Because both the 911 and the Range will probably be available as pure electric cars at some point, in case of the latter promised from 2024.

The three diesel engines differ only in terms of performance/torque. They share the layout with the weaker petrol engine. The stronger is then designed as a V8. 'Intelligent' four-wheel drive is obligatory. The range has grown again in all directions. It also offers seven seats now. The tailgate, of course divided into two, allows you to sit there up to 300 kg.

Smooth on the outside, even the windows are finished almost seamlessly, luxurious on the inside. This includes, for example, the variant with only two seats in the back and a small touchscreen in the armrest, the armchairs also have adjustable backrests. At the front, the steering wheel that is closer designed to the Defender, unfortunately the ventilation above the slightly curved center touchscreen that is only attached.

In addition to the separate touch control for the automatic climate control, there are also two ingenious rotary controls for quick adjustment. Again extra on the center console the setting of the driving modes. Added to this are the finest inlays and the option of replacing the lavish leather interior almost entirely with recyclable ones.

The Range Rover will also be available as a plug-in hybrid relatively soon, true to the name with a nominal 100 km and a real 80 km electric range thanks to a 38 kWh battery. Two versions of 324 kW (440 hp) and 375 kW (510 hp) are in preparation. Of course, the car comes under 30 g/km in compliance with the rules. Charging capacity: at least 50 kW.
