It has become larger, just so that the dimensions of VW Passat are always a little more. But is it really a dangerous competitor? Sure, if considering the price, especially if one takes the standard equipment. But the petrol engines are worlds apart, especially if you look at the performance. For approximately the same speed the Optima needs almost 29 kW (40 hp) more.
With the acceleration it is similar because the Kia has more than 150 kg more weigth. We compare the petrol version of the Kia with the 1.4 liter TSI, which has the same maximum torque and does not need such a high and behind the times rated speed of 6500 rpm. And then the fuel consumption. Approximately 40 g/km less does the VW, a truly significant difference.
The diesel engine of the Kia performs significantly better. To achieve the enormous torque of the Kia VW needs a displacement of 2 liters. However, it also has to struggle with the excess weight when accelerating. However, it has become quieter, although it is actually unchanged. May be, the surrounding of the engine has changed. In addition, it is available with direct shifting gearbox. A four-wheel drive is, however, not available for both Optima versions.
The common assistents parking, track holding and brake control are standard here. The latest Optima version is discognizable by the meshed grille and the changed air intakes underneath. Significantly less striking are the new rear lights. Too bad that the recommendable diesel version is so much more expensive. 01/16
