 2018 Ford Fiesta WRC
All WRC cars are street legal. |
It's getting more and more exciting in the World Rally Championship. Last year, Sébastien Ogier had switched over from the leaving winner car VW Polo WRC to Ford. He was in struggle with
Thierry Neuville for Hyundai, but ultimately won the WRC with his Ford Fiesta.
This year it seems to be even more difficult. The first race in Monte Carlo won Ogier, the second in Sweden Neuville. The third race in Mexico on gravel and in higher altitude sees Ogier as winner, but with the help of
the second team Dani Sordo keeps the Manufacturers' Championship for Hyundai.
Ford has probably guessed, now provides much more factory resources for the team M-Sport ready. You can see how close the four teams are, including the newly added Toyota. Given the altitude in Mexico, tests
have
even been conducted in the climate chamber of the Ford plant in Dunton, UK.
In 2017, we reported on the Hyundai WRC. There you can also read about the technical rules, which by the way have
hardly changed for this year. Considering the many restrictions common to all vehicles, e.g. the series proximity of engine block and cylinder head, then one can designate the concept altogether as probably well.
