2020 Ferrari SF 90 Stradale
The two letters stand for Scuderia Ferrari and 90 for their age. A beautiful shape, the downforce of which is specified as 380 kg or better with almost 3,800 N. So this must also be applied by the drive in
addition to the general resistances.
But don't worry, its total of 735 kW (1,000 Hp) is more than enough for this. It is not the first Ferrari with a hybrid drive. That was the LaFerrari, which with 588 kW (800 combustion HP) and 120 kW (163 electric HP) did not quite
match the performance of the SF 90. Before that, there was already a four-wheel drive car in the form of the FF, but only for the lower gears.
While the price of the LaFerrari was rumored to be € 1.2 million, the SF 90 is said to be 'only' over € 400,000. At that time, with only 499 vehicles, this was also called 'Limited Edition', whereas now there is talk of series
production, whatever that means at Ferrari for the limitation.
In addition to a four-liter V8 biturbo engine with 8-speed DSK, you can also expect an electric motor in the drive and two with each on both sides of the front axle, all three supplied by a battery with just under 8 kWh if required.
Even so, it is said that only 25 km of electric range remain. Presumably the battery must not be completely discharged, because the electric drive is solely responsible for reversing.
To get to the engine, you first have to press far inside an elongated button and in the same color as the car in order to then open the door and pull the corresponding lever on the sill. Then a engine hood opens, which is
made of glass except for the area of the hinges. Only then does the V8 become visible, deep inside the engine compartment, which is separated from the occupants by an additional pane of glass.
In terms of design, the rear cannot be classified anywhere. Without function, the rear lights are hardly noticeable. The exhaust pipes end unusually high. Up close, you actually only see edges, shadows and openings,
somehow rounded, never straight, sometimes without any function. The only thing that seems to disturb is the license plate with its two lightings, which are reminiscent of times long past.
Inside you don't have the feeling of a steering wheel in front of you, but rather a highly compressed, complete dashboard. The designers allowed themselves a special gag on the center console, namely control paddles with
which, for example, different transmission modes can be set, which looks like a gate shift from earlier times. Overall, one speaks of a completely redesigned interior.
Funny, but theoretically you could place this Ferrari with a hybrid drive and a suitable charging cable at a public charging station. We do not yet know whether it will then be able to charge with three phases. Anyway, if not, that
would increase the residence time for 0 to 100 percent to a theoretical 2 hours. Then it stands there with possibly 68 liters of fuel on board.
Inside a curved 16-inch display behind a steering wheel with touchpad in addition to the familiar elements of control. The paddles are still there for shifting gears, very long because they don't turn with the steering wheel.
Worth mentioning is the front, where it is really worthwhile this time to trace the various openings for the inflowing and outflowing airstream.
