2013 Citroën C4 Picasso

The C4 Picasso five-seater is 4 cm shorter than its predecessor, the seven-seat Grand C4 Picasso just 1.2 cm. But at least the wheelbase of both is 5.5 cm longer, so more seating comfort with shrunken outer length. Citroën engineers promise that it also has lost 150 kg of weight.

The windshield of the already somewhat futuristic looking van goes far into the roof, in addition to the usual panels can be moved up the roof edge. And there is an optional 5.3 square meter panorama roof. Who is not disturbed by bars in windows, has a good overall view.

However, the windshield reaches far forward and the front is not well visible, which makes the parking of this big car not easy. That a Citroën is always a little different, you also notice in the interior. The displays are relatively small, but there are three of them, but none behind or above the steering wheel.

The slightly larger Diesel engine is praised throughout, because it promises both pulling power and economy. Even the manual transmission reaps praise, the automatic a little censure because of their operation levers.

The operation of the C4 Picasso is sometimes puzzling, maybe emphasizes unimportant a bit too strong. But the number and size of the storage compartments is enormous. And the storage space in the rear is beyond doubt in such a large van with three-part rear seats.

The C4 Picasso is designed for travel, mostly on highways, not so much on winding roads. The suspension comfort is so good that some people complain it is not well enough damped, especially with full load. Occasionally, the steering is perceived as too indirect.

There are few cars where you can comfortably reach the driver's seat over such a low threshold. However, the tailgate provoked annoyance. Not so much that it opens so slowly during electrical (foot) operation, but that it takes along all the taillights. An Opel Insignia then has at least auxiliary lights at the same hight, the loadmaster C4 Picasso not. 01/17
