2019 Chevrolet Corvette C8
You don't see such beauty every day. Difficult to remain objective. You can't believe it. After 66 years, Chevrolet has abandoned the concept of the front engine with the long bonnet and is bringing a completely different
car. Of course it is still called 'Stingray' because of the continuity, but it has almost nothing in common with the car built in 1962. The sales success is written in the face of the new one, also in view of a price from
$62,000 on.
Of course it will become much more expensive in Germany. Here the prices of American sports cars have also risen quite a bit over the years. The current C7 already costs well over €90,000. However, it seems to be
one of the last of its kind. Already it is questionable whether it appears here at all still with pure combustion engine. Anyway probably not before 2021.
Also as a combustion engine it is probably one of the last of its kind, because it also comes as naturally aspirated, compared to the C7 by 34 kW (47 hp) and 27 Nm strengthened. And there's another faux pas it can
afford: if it stays that way, no manual transmission has been offered for a long time. With its structure made of aluminium and glas fiber for the hoods or carbon fiber at the rear and perpex disk above the engine, it has
hardly become heavier.
And this, although it did not grow in the wheelbase, but in the length by 14.5 cm. This creates space for a conceptually hot but somewhat larger rear luggage compartment compared to the front one. There will probably
be two versions of the Convertible's roof, one to be stowed in the rear luggage compartment (picture above) and one to fold over the engine (videos below).
There is probably an incredible variety of choices planned. The driving modes alone have already been increased by two more. So that the new Corvette doesn't dent its beautiful nose, it can be raised at the push of a
button. And, you can't believe it, the system can remember the places where this was necessary and act automatically. 10/19
