From 2009 there is a significant change, Cabrio and Coupe are combined by a folding roof convertible. What a pitty for those, who liked the Z4 with cloth cap. Even the in itself not so small luggage compartment suffers from the room, which must be kept free for the big new roof and even more for the external linkage left and right.

The two original six-cylinders are replaced by turbocharged four-cylinders. And later a third one is added as basic engine. Unfortunately, only the fully automatic transmission is available for the three as an option. The 7-speed double-clutch gearbox is reserved for the both more powerful six-cylinders.

In 2013 there is a small facelift concerning the lights at the front, rear and the side direction indicators. Otherwise, the Z4 is used very often and successful as a motorsports car, well equipped here with a V8. So there is no real M-version for the Z4. It remains a Roadster, although this categoy outgrown because of the level of equipment. 05/16
