Elvis is back ...

Read more about the BMW 507 here

Apart from a few cars all BMW 507 are still preserved, at least about 250 vehicles. One of the rather deplorable vehicles has just returned to Germany 2014 to an extensive restoration. Unfortunately still missing a lot of parts like the complete drive train. The King of Rock'n'Roll, Elvis Aaron Presley, bought it during his time as a soldier in Germany 1958.

The 1957 produced vehicle was offered to Hans Stuck first, who successfully used it to mountain races and presenting it at shows.

Elvis himself has initiated that the car was repainted later. The colour corresponds to the then preferred lipsticks. Maybe you already guessed the reason? Right, the car of Presley was so well known that many women immortalized themselves with their lipstick, some with relatively unambiguous offerings. The King was so tired of cleaning.

After restoration reportedly worth far beyond 1 million euros.

Elvis drove the 507 with the eight-cylinder engine from the large limousine nearly 1.5 years. Then he had to go back to the States and was able to continue his career. The next owner was a radio moderator using the car for racing activities. Engine and transmission were probably lost in the exchange against an American V8. A pity.

The aerospace engineer Jack Castor took possession of the remains 1968, collecting information and parts for restoration. Only from a journalist he learned that Elvis was a former holder of the car. She made contact with the BMW Group Classic, too. After long negotiations Castor accepted their restoration. He didn't live to see the result, died in 2014.
