One had thought that the 2 Series would finally bring order to the system, but none of that, a rear-wheel drive had once again cheated its way forward, in spite of all the others. Now you can think that one shouldn't see the matter too fundamentally, but should tell that perhaps better to the BMW fans who want to prevent a step into modernity.

Admittedly, they haven't really seen the benefits yet. Because in the not at all similar Gran Coupé you can't even sit upright in the back as an adult and you only have 40 liters more luggage space. Fortunately, customers who wanted a 2 Series Coupé with front-wheel drive cannot find themselves suddenly in a rear-wheel drive at the moment, or vice versa.

Why, because the price difference is currently € 6,000, with the same gearbox still just under € 4,000, which is due to the much more powerful engine. If you compensate for this, with the Gran Coupé you even end up slightly above the Coupé and still not quite achieve its performance. Doesn't BMW want to emphasize the advantages of front-wheel drive?

If you go one step higher, it seems again as if someone has messed up the Excel file with the type designations, because a 3 Series Coupé cannot be found. Only one step up you will find what you are looking for. With the same engine, 11 cm more wheelbase and almost 9 cm more in length, you pay € 7,400 more.

Or is the surcharge due to the new design with the new radiator grille? That would be another reason to stick with the 2 Series Coupé. It's amazing that this one comes after the new one. Or has BMW also given in here? In that case one would have to thank the BMW fans. In summary: The 1, 2 and 3 Series would at least be plausible from now on if the new one would have been presented as a 3 Series Coupé.
