Lots of small SUV models of the Volkswagen group are in the pipeline, difficult to classify them, especially this car with the type number '2'. The Q3 has been designed based on the A3 and VW Golf. The next smaller should actually be the Q1, derived from A1 and VW Polo.

The problem is that these crazy customers indeed want an SUV, but it should not be too bulky. The small SUVs apparently going like hotcakes. And so the Audi people probably have chosen for the still unused number in between.

Now the Q3 allegedly refers to the A3 Sportback and the Q2 to the A3 in two-door version. However, as the two have the same wheelbase, that is also the case with Q2 and Q3. So they only differ by 20 centimeters in length, are of course still not the same length as the respective non-SUVs.

Seen from the basic price they are a little pulled apart because the Q2 is offered with a three-cylinder engine. So probably the main task remained on the designers, whom for this more freedoms have been granted. Nevertheless, with the Q2 a typical Audi has been created. 03/16
