  Wheels - Profile Analysis



General
Tread depth lower in the middle.Driven with too much air.
Tread depth lower on both outer sides.Driven with not enough air.

Axles
Both wheels worn on the inside1. Axle has too much toe-out.
2. Both wheels have too much negative camber.
Both wheels worn on the outside1. Axle has too much toe-in.
2. Both wheels have too much positive camber.
One wheel worn on the outside.This rather indicates that the camber is too positive. Too much toe-in would be balanced out between the two wheels.
One wheel worn on the inside.This indicates that the camber is too negative. Too much toe-out would be compensated between the two wheels.
Washouts changing between both sides.Such a clear pattern of damage has become rare, but could indicate possible faults, particularly in the damping.
Flattenings in one or more placesThese are so-called brake plates caused by locked wheels. Indicates a malfunction in the ABS system.

Hints
1. Remove foreign objects from the tread.
2. Summer and winter tires can be worn down to 1.6 mm. Winter tires should actually be replaced from 4 mm onwards.
3. Truck tires can be recut, car tires cannot
