The Fiat 1200 was a refined version of the Fiat 1100/103. However, it did not disappear; instead, the 1200 model was added to the price list under the name 'Granluce'. As can be seen from the production figures, the car
sold quite well over the four years.
The radiator grille and rear lights were more elaborately designed. The tail fins, which were considered very modern at the time, were also accentuated once again. So everyone could see at first glance
that this was the luxury version.
The tail fins adopted from America inevitably included the panoramic rear window. The windshield and side windows have been enlarged. The most important change, however, was the newly introduced front-hinged
doors.
With its contrasting roof color and whitewall tires, the Fiat 1200 with the additional designation 103G was considered a sports sedan. This was accompanied by changes to the interior and dashboard. The vehicle was later
also available with asymmetrical low beams.
The engine was developed from that of the 1100 by enlarging the bore. In addition, a Weber twin carburetor provided the necessary power. Although the crankshaft was only triple-bearing, the bearings themselves had fine
layers of copper, lead, and indium.
